The Graduate and Professional Student Council will convene its first general body meeting of the semester on Tuesday, September 5th, at 7:30P.M. in Activity Room C&D on the third floor of the Student Center.
As the constituency body of graduate and professional students recognized by the Board of Trustees, the Graduate and Professional Student Council the official organization designated to represent graduate and professional students in matters pertaining to student welfare, student activities, student participation in campus affairs, student participation in institutional planning and administration, and student opinion.
In order to ensure the full representation of all graduate and professional students campus wide, we are requesting representatives from each graduate degree granting academic unit.
Representatives of academic units may be selected by that academic unit’s graduate student organization. To be recognized as the representative of the academic unit, the selected representative must provide a letter from the student president of the academic unit’s graduate student organization verifying their status as the representative for that organization.
In the event that no such organization exists for an academic unit, the prospective representative must complete the Membership Application attached to this e-mail and submit it at or prior to the first meeting attended. Upon verification of the membership application, the prospective representative will be considered the official representative for their department.
Additionally, graduate and professional students may fill at-large membership positions provided they present a petition signed by 20 unclassified graduate students (containing the student’s name, signature, and e-mail), to be submitted at or prior to the first meeting attended. GPSC has five at-large positions available in an academic year.
Information concerning the process of becoming a representative can be found on our membership page.
Representative applications may be submitted to the Graduate and Professional Student Council offices on the third floor of the student center any time prior to or during our first meeting September 5th, at 7:30pm in Activity Room C&D on the third floor of the Student Center. Questions concerning the application process, the responsibilities of representatives, or the role of the Graduate and Professional Student Council may be submitted to email@example.com.
