Program Change Proposals

The following are program change proposals submitted by the administration to the Faculty Association and affected faculty in accordance with Article 9 of the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

These proposals are provided by GPSC for the generation of student opinion in accordance with Board of Trustees Policy 3.F.3 which recognizes GPSC as ” the official organization designated to represent students in matters pertaining to student welfare, student activities, student participation in campus affairs, student participation in institutional planning and administration, and student opinion.”

All degree programs associated with the departments listed as “affected units,” including undergraduate and graduate degree programs, concentrations and specializations associated with the degree programs, minor programs, and certificate programs will be transferred to the proposed school except where noted.

Program Change Proposals

School of Accountancy and Finance
Affected Units: School of Accountancy, Department of Economics, Department of Finance

School of Media and Performing Arts
Affected Units: Department of Cinema and Photography, School of Journalism, School of Music, Department of Radio, TV and Digital Media, Department of Theater

School of Agricultural Sciences
Affected Units: Department of Agribusiness Economics, Department of Plant, Soil and Agricultural Systems, Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition

Note: The Department of Agribusiness Economics will be affiliated with School of Accountancy via cross‐appointments of Agribusiness Economics faculty and with cross -listing of curricular offerings as determined appropriate by School faculty, in consultation with the School Directors and College Deans. The Primary appointment and tenure home for Faculty in Agribusiness Economics will be in the School of Agricultural Sciences. Faculty in Agribusiness Economics may choose to transfer their tenure to the School of Accountancy and Finance. Future hires of Faculty in the Agribusiness Economics area may be either in the School of Agricultural Sciences or the School of Accountancy and Finance.

All degree programs EXCEPT for Hospitality and Tourism Administration and Human Nutrition and Dietetics will be housed in the School of Agricultural Sciences. The degree program in Hospitality and Tourism Administration will be removed and housed in the School of Management and Marketing. The degree program in and Human Nutrition and Dietetics will be removed and housed in the School of Human Services.

School of Architecture, Art and Design
Affected Units: School of Art and Design, School of Architecture

Note: The degree programs in Interior Design, Architectural Studies, and Fashion Design and Merchandising will be separated from the School of Architecture and moved into the School of Architecture, Art and Design.

School of Biological Sciences
Affected Units: Department of Microbiology, Department of Plant Biology, Department of Zoology

Note: Zoology will also be affiliated with the School of Sustainability and Earth Sciences. The principal appointments and tenure homes of Faculty in Zoology will be in the School of Biological Sciences. Faculty will have cross appointments in the School of Sustainability and Earth Sciences. Faculty may choose to pursue a tenure home in the School of Sustainability and Earth Science.

Additionally, the degree program(s) in Physiology and the graduate degree in Pharmacology and Neuroscience will be affiliated with the School of Biological Science. These programs are presently delivered by faculty in the School of Medicine. The primary appointments of such faculty, and the tenure homes of such faculty, will remain in the School of Medicine. Such faculty will have a cross appointment in the School of Biological Sciences. The tenure home and primary appointment of faculty hired to deliver these programs in the future may be in the School of Biological Science.

The interdisciplinary undergraduate degree program in Biological Sciences will be housed in the School of Biological Sciences. The degree in Fermentation Science will also be housed in the School of Biological Science. Undergraduate students who are preparing for future professional degrees (e.g., pre‐medical, pre‐dental, pre-veterinarian) will be served in the School of Biological Sciences.

School of Computer and Physical Sciences
Affected Units: Department of Chemistry, Department of Computer Science, Department of Mathematics, Department of Physics

School of Education
Affected Units: Department of Counseling, Quantitative Methods & Special Education, Department of Curriculum & Instruction, Department of Workforce Education and Development, Department of Educational Administration and Higher Education)

Note: Teacher Education Programs will also be housed in the School of
Education.

School of Engineering
Affected Units: Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes

Note: The Professional Science Master’s program in Advanced Energy and Fuel Management, presently housed in the Graduate School, will be housed in the
School of Engineering under this proposal.

School of Health Services
Affected Units: Rehabilitation Institute, Department of Public Health and Recreation Professions, School of Allied Health

Note: The degree programs in Recreation currently housed in the Department of Public Health and Recreation Professions will be moved to the School of Health Services. The degree programs in Dental Hygiene, Radiologic Sciences, and Physical Therapist Assistant (AAS Degree) currently housed in the School of Allied Health will be moved to the School of Health Services.

School of Homeland Security
Affected Units: Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Department of Political Sciences, Department of Information Systems and Applied Technologies, School of Architecture

Note: This proposal requires the merger of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Department of Political Science with academic degree programs from the Paralegal Studies Program, the School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies, and the School of Architecture.

The degree programs in Information Systems Technology and Electronic Systems Technology currently housed in the School of Information Systems and Applied Technology will be moved to the School of Homeland Security. Additionally, the degree program in Public Safety Management will be moved to the School of Homeland Security. The degree programs in the Paralegal Studies Program will also be moved to the School of Homeland Security, as will programs in pre‐law. The status of the Director Position in the program of Paralegal Studies remains undetermined

School of Human Services
Affected Units: Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition, Department of Kinesiology, Department of Public Health and Recreation Professions, School of Allied Health, School of Social Work

Note: The degree program in Human Nutrition and Dietetics will be moved from the Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition and to the School of Human
Services; the undergraduate and graduate degrees in Exercise Science will be moved from the Department of Kinesiology and into the School of Human Services; the graduate degree program in Public Health will be moved from the Department of Public Health and Recreation Professions to the School of Human Services; and, the degree program in Mortuary Science will be moved to the School of Human Services.

School of Humanities

School of Management and Marketing
Affected Units: Department of Management, Department of Marketing, School of Allied Health, Department of Kinesiology, Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition.

Note: The degree programs in Health Care Management currently housed in the School of Allied Health, the degree programs in Sport Administration currently housed in the Department of Kinesiology, and the degree programs in Hospitality and Tourism Administration will be removed from their current locations and placed in the School of Management and Marketing.

School of Social Sciences and Multicultural Studies

Note: the following minor and/or certificate programs will also be housed in the School of Social Sciences and Multicultural Studies: Latino and Latin American Studies; Native American Studies; Peace Studies; Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

School of Sustainability and Earth Sciences
Affected Units: Department of Forestry, Department of Geography and Environmental Resources, Department of Geology.

Note: The interdisciplinary graduate program in Environmental Resources and Policy will be housed in the School of Sustainability and Earth Science.

School of Transportation and Applied Technology
Affected Units: Department of Automotive Technology, Department of Aviation Management and Flight, Department of Aviation Technologies, Department of Technology, School of Information Systems and Applied Technologies)

Note: the degree program in Technical Resource Management currently located in the School of information Systems and Applied Technologies will be moved to the School of Transportation and Applied Technology.
